North, the dealer, passed. I was East and held:
and opened 1 diam.
My partner had:
and bid 1 heart.
I rebid 1 spade, and my partner passed because she said that if I had 12 to 14 pts I would have opened 1NT, and if I had 15 points I would have rebid 1NT.
We made 3 spades, which was a good score, and I guess you cannot criticize a good score. But what if I had held 6 diam. and 4 spades and no hearts? Should she have responded 2NT at her second turn to bid, or was leaving it in 1 spade the best thing to do?
How would you answer this query?
I have only been doing the Daily Problem. It is excellent practice! I’ll send you more feedback as I get to explore more on the web site.
